Batalyse is meant to help anyone who works with electrochemical measurements to get the most out of their data. It imports the measurement results from files or directly from a database, formats them properly in a table, analyses them and plots numerous of ready-to-use graphs.
Batalyse takes into consideration various parameters which the user can input, and the created graphs can also be customized and selected according to the user’s needs.

No. Batalysis is a software for the evaluation of electrochemical measurement data.

This includes in particular batteries and fuel cells. We are happy to add further systems/processes/methods according to your requirements.

Batalyse is a plug-in for the data analysis and graphing software Origin. To install and use Batalyse, a working installation of Origin/OriginPro 2018 or newer is required. Then simply download the latest version of Batalyse from our download page, extract the content of the zip file, and drag-and-drop the included opx file to an open Origin window. The installation should be finished within a few seconds, and the Batalyse toolbar will be shown.

The Batalyse Trial Version is always limited in time (usually to 1-2 months since release). After this time the trial version can no longer be used and a current version must be downloaded.

The trial version will no longer be available for  users after the foundation of a start-up company for the distribution of Batalyse.

The Full Version of Batalyse includes the installation file and a license key. The license key will be created for each computer on which Batalyse will run and will be sent to you by mail.

Electrochemical cycling, EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) and CV (Cyclic Voltammetry), as well as Pulse tests, Online-MS and Thickness-measurements are supported by Batalyse.
Electrochemical cycling has the most extensive support with a large variety of options and result diagrams. The support of the other methods is currently more limited.

Yes. Batalyse supports direct import from SQL-based databases (MySQL, MSSQL), thus saving you the time usually needed to export, transfer and re-import the data files from your measurement system. Currently supported is the database structure of BaSyTec. If your system uses a different database and you want to import data from it directly to Batalyse, please contact us with further information and we will do our best to add support for your database. Instructions for connecting Batalyse to your database can be found in our Wiki.
There are two methods for comparing tests in Batalyse.
  1. When starting the evaluation, choose multiple files simultaneously. After inputting the parameters of each file, a popup will be shown, prompting for comparison of the selected files.
  2. When multiple tests are already evaluated in a single Origin project file, the button “Compare Workbooks” from the toolbar can be used to select and compare the required tests.
Further information can be found in our Wiki

Yes, after you have created a series of measurements with “Compare Workbooks” via the Batalysis Toolbar, you can also compare them again with “Compare Workbooks” with individual measurements or a series of measurements.

Further information: Wiki

Yes. To do that, select the files simultaneously for evaluation, and when the parameters dialog opens for the first file, select “connect chronological data” under “file merging options”. Batalyse will then connect the selected files to a single table, sorted by the starting date/time, and perform the evaluation as if it was one continuous data file.

We are happy to accommodate your needs. Please contact us with your requests, and when possible a sketch of the required diagram.

The complete list of devices currently supported by Batalyse can be found on this page of the Batalyse Wiki.
If the measurement device/s you use are not listed in our list, or you are using test methods which Batalyse does not yet support, please contact us with information about your needs and when possible a test file, and we will do our best to add implement the required changes in an upcoming version of Batalyse.

Unfortunately Batalyse cannot be used without Origin. However, if you want to test Batalyse before committing to buying Origin, you can download and install a demo version of Origin which is valid for 21 days. In case that your test system is not yet supported by Batalyse, in order to avoid wasting the trial period of Origin, you can send us a few test files so that we can make the needed modifications to Batalyse in advance, and let you know when you should start your trial version.

Origin offers many advantages to the user for modifying and further customizing the result graphs.

Text boxes can be added, axis labels changed, line colors changed, legend modified, etc., etc., as desired. It is possible to enter the diagrams and create very complex diagrams. Diagram quality is very high compared to other programs.

In Excel, the possibilities are limited by the maximum number of lines that can be used to evaluate large measurement files. Charts can be modified much less easily and extensively. More complex diagrams are not available.

Python offers extensive program libraries free of charge and is perfectly suited to create result diagrams. Unfortunately, the user does not have the possibility to modify these diagrams extensively via a suitable interface.

If you recently updated Batalyse and are trying to evaluate again a file which you already evaluated with an older version of Batalyse, it is possible that inconsistencies in the JSON parameters file are causing the problems. Please try deleting the parameters file (which is saved in the same folder of the test file, unless otherwise specified) and retry the evaluation.
Otherwise, please contact our support with a detailed description of what you tried to do and what was the problem, and if possible the test files you tried to use as well, so that we can fix the problem and update Batalyse. Please refer to our Wiki for more details.

In general, large files with many cycles take longer to evaluate than small files.

The evaluation can be accelerated by:

  • Using a fast computer
  • Deploy new versions of Origin that support multi-core processors
  • Reduction of the graphs to be generated in Batalyse
  • Selecting only one language for the result diagrams

You can evaluate several files one after the other with Batalyse (see Batch Evaluation). This allows you to work through entire measurement runs during the lunch break or over the night.

We are also working on an automatic evaluation which is carried out immediately after the measurement is finished. For this, both the evaluation program Batalyse and the database Mind are required.

It is possible that your installed version of Batalyse has expired, or that the Batalyse installation folder was corrupted. Please download and install the latest version of Batalyse and try again. If the problems persist, please contact our support.

Our Batalyse Wiki contains a lot of detailed information on the different functions and options of Batalyse.

With Batalyse you can evaluate measured data extensively and conveniently.

Our Mind database also gives you the possibility to save all background information on a measurement and link it to the evaluated results.

Mind and Batalyse are linked with each other, but can also be used independently. Batalyse directly reads characteristic data of a specimen for the evaluation. They do not have to be entered manually again.

Mind is a database that allows you to structure and filter your measurement data with all background information.

With each measurement result you can see all details of the measurement, e.g:

  • which electrolyte was used and how much?
  • which materials and components were used in the test item?
  • who built the test item and when was it measured?
  • to which project does the measurement belong?
  • which processes/tools and parameters were used to produce materials, components etc. for the specimen?
  • ……

Filter options in the Mind database allow you to select and compare specific measurements, e.g.

  • show all measurements with the cell chemistry Li-S i period 2015-2019
  • ….

No. Mind is a platform for data organization and structuring and can be used for any topic (medicine/pharmaceutical, material research, process development etc.).

Mind is a combination of an electronic labbook and database and can be linked to an evaluation software. In the field of batteries and fuel cells this is Batalysis. In other areas we would be happy to create a corresponding adapted software tool for you.

Batalyse and Mind can be used independently of each other.

However, a common use grants you numerous advantages. By combining Batalysis and Mind you get all background information on a measurement clearly displayed.

The Mind database will be available on our website from 2020 onwards.

In order to use Mind you need server capacity in the house to store your measurement data and information. Mind provides a structure with many useful features.

Batalyse and Mind were developed in such a way that only YOU, the user, has access to your own measurement data. All data remain local to you. You do not need to load data into a (foreign) cloud to use Batalyse or Mind. Nevertheless, you can use Batalyse to evaluate measurement data on your computer/network/server/cloud. It is your decision.

We or other Batalyse/Mind users have no access to your measurement data.

  1. Batalyse – Evaluation and plotting of measurement data independent of the measuring station and method used. Multilingual customizable, labelled diagrams with flexibly adaptable legend and export function
  2. Mind – Database for storing all background information of a measurement. Batalyse retrieves all information about a test item from Mind. Parameter files no longer have to be created manually.
  3. Report – in planning – creates automated reports of measurements and measurement series
  4. Big Data – in planning – the database Mind searches for correlations – which parameter influences the product quality the most?
  5. Custom – highly extended functions for customizing charts – add your company logo Customize every single parameter of a chart and set a standard for your company.
  6. Automate – In progress – have your measurements evaluated fully automatically.

Batalysis is an evaluation tool for batteries and fuel cells and other electrochemical systems and processes.

We would be pleased to create an adapted tool for your application.

The full version of Batalyse contains a license key in addition to the installation file. The license key is created for each computer on which Batalyse is to run and sent to you by mail.
